Overview

Most struggling lawns are not underfed. They are compacted, shaded, or badly watered.

The reflex when turf looks thin is another round of fertilizer. If the underlying problem is compaction, shade, or irrigation coverage, that round does very little except cost money and run off into the storm drain.

We look at the cause before we sell the cure, and we will tell you when the honest answer is aeration, a different grass, or accepting that nothing will thrive under that maple.

Lawn Service

Every line below appears on your proposal, so you can hold it against anyone else’s bid.

  • Weekly or biweekly mowing at the correct height

  • Soil testing and pH correction
  • Balanced fertilization timed to growth stage
  • Broadleaf and crabgrass control
  • Grub and insect monitoring, treated as warranted
  • Core aeration
  • Overseeding and slit seeding of thin areas
  • Spring and fall cleanup
  • Salt damage repair on winter-affected edges
How we build it

The parts you cannot see are the parts that fail.

Licensed applicators

Applications are made by MDA-licensed commercial applicators at label rates, with records kept to the standard the license requires.

Diagnosis before prescription

Soil test, shade assessment, and irrigation check before we build a program. Two lawns on the same block often need different things.

Cut high, cut sharp

Most residential lawns are cut too short. Higher mowing shades out weeds, deepens roots, and survives August far better.

Watered right, not watered often

Deep and infrequent beats daily and shallow every time. If you have irrigation, we will set the schedule to match the program.

What it costs

Nobody in this market will give you a number. Here is what actually moves it.

Every landscape contractor in the Twin Cities refuses to quote before seeing the site, and honestly they are right to — access and grade change a price more than square footage does. What we will do is tell you which decisions drive your number, so you walk into the consultation knowing where the money goes.

  • Lawn square footage and how much is trimming versus open mowing
  • Mowing frequency — weekly or biweekly
  • Program depth — mowing only, or mowing plus a full fertilization and weed control program
  • Aeration and overseeding — annual or as needed
  • Obstacles — beds, trees, play sets, and fences all slow a mow
  • Slope and access — steep areas need different equipment or hand work

“I enjoyed the friendly and professional evaluation of what work was required. The follow-up was fantastic. Best of all, I now have a lawn where I once had dirt. And it looks GREAT!”

“Of all the companies I called to give me an estimate, Maddi from ProScapes is the ONLY person who followed up with me. She is so conscientious, had great recommendations and took my drawings and turned them into a fabulous reality. Her team was on time, knew exactly what to do and were flexible with my suggestions while on site. They came back a year later to fix a couple of things that didn’t grow back. I recommended them to my neighbors and they too had a very positive experience.”

Our process

Six stages, and you approve before the money moves.

Consultation

A designer walks the property with you, listens to how you actually want to use the space, and flags anything structural — drainage, grade, access — before ideas get expensive.

Site analysis

Soil, sun, drainage, slope, utilities, and existing plant health. This is the stage that separates a design that works from a design that only looks good on paper.

Design

Plan drawings and material selection, with a cost range attached before anyone commits to a full construction set. You see what you’re buying.

Your review

You mark it up. We revise. Nothing gets ordered or scheduled until the plan and the number both have your signature on them.

Installation

Our crews, our equipment. Base photos before anything gets covered, site cleaned to working condition every evening, and a firm end date.

Walkthrough & warranty

We walk the finished work with you, show you how to care for it, and hand over the warranty. Then we’re available for the maintenance if you want it.

Questions

What homeowners ask.

Is your fertilizer program safe around kids and pets?
Products are applied by licensed applicators at label rates with posted notification, and label re-entry intervals are stated. If you want a reduced-risk or organic-leaning program we will build one and be straight with you about what it will and will not achieve on a high-traffic Minnesota lawn.
Why is my lawn thin under the trees?
Usually shade plus root competition plus dry soil, and there is a limit to what any program overcomes. Beyond a certain canopy density the honest answer is a shade-tolerant seed mix, a groundcover, or a mulched bed — not more fertilizer.
How short should my grass be cut?
Higher than most people think — generally three to three and a half inches for our cool-season lawns. Scalping is the fastest way to invite crabgrass and to stress turf ahead of August.
When should I aerate?
Late summer through early fall is ideal in the Twin Cities, paired with overseeding so the seed drops into the holes. Spring aeration is better than none but competes with crabgrass germination.
