Savage homes

What landscaping in Savage usually involves.

Savage added more than 11,000 people in the 1990s and has kept growing since the Bloomington Ferry Bridge opened. Much of the housing is twenty to thirty years old, which puts it at the age where the original builder landscape is tired and the family who bought the house has decided what they actually want the yard to do.

The terrain helps and complicates. Lots on the hills south of Highway 13 and near Murphy-Hanrehan have grade to work with — good for walkouts and terraces, demanding for drainage and walls. Our Savage work runs from patios and outdoor living spaces to retaining walls, front entries, and the planting plans that give a newer neighborhood some maturity.

Savage is about 25 minutes from our Eagan yard by Highway 13. It is the western edge of our core residential area, and we serve all of it.

Built for Savage yards

Three things we plan for here.

20- to 30-year-old landscapes

The 1990s subdivisions are at the point where shrubs have outgrown the beds and the patio was never big enough. Those are design-and-rebuild projects we run constantly.

Hillside lots

The hills on the south side of Savage make for walkouts and views, and for walls and drainage that have to be done right. We engineer what needs engineering and drain every wall from behind.

Plantings that mature

Newer neighborhoods with young trees need plantings that will give privacy and structure in three to five years. We space for the mature size, not for install day.

“Of all the companies I called to give me an estimate, Maddi from ProScapes is the ONLY person who followed up with me. She is so conscientious, had great recommendations and took my drawings and turned them into a fabulous reality. Her team was on time, knew exactly what to do and were flexible with my suggestions while on site. They came back a year later to fix a couple of things that didn’t grow back. I recommended them to my neighbors and they too had a very positive experience.”

“We asked them to replace a deteriorating concrete block wall (which we never liked) with a wall of large natural boulders and, if they could, preserve some mature evergreens in the process, and they exceeded expectations. The outcome is beautiful and timeless.”

“ProScapes completed a large landscape/hardscape project for us, and it turned out beautifully. They were very responsive during the design phase and very patient as we worked through several adjustments. The crew was friendly and professional, and they maintained a clean job site. It was clear that the crew took pride in their work and wanted to ensure that we were happy with the end result.”

Our process

Six stages, and you approve before the money moves.

Consultation

A designer walks the property with you, listens to how you actually want to use the space, and flags anything structural — drainage, grade, access — before ideas get expensive.

Site analysis

Soil, sun, drainage, slope, utilities, and existing plant health. This is the stage that separates a design that works from a design that only looks good on paper.

Design

Plan drawings and material selection, with a cost range attached before anyone commits to a full construction set. You see what you’re buying.

Your review

You mark it up. We revise. Nothing gets ordered or scheduled until the plan and the number both have your signature on them.

Installation

Our crews, our equipment. Base photos before anything gets covered, site cleaned to working condition every evening, and a firm end date.

Walkthrough & warranty

We walk the finished work with you, show you how to care for it, and hand over the warranty. Then we’re available for the maintenance if you want it.

Questions

What Savage homeowners ask.

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Savage?
Under the Minnesota building code, walls over four feet tall (bottom of footing to top) need a building permit and an engineered design, reviewed by the City of Savage. Lots near the Credit River or in shoreland zones can carry additional rules. We pull the permit and schedule the inspection.
How far is Savage from your yard?
About 25 minutes from Eagan on Highway 13. We serve all of Savage; it is the western edge of our core residential area.
My HOA has rules on fences and structures. Can you help?
Yes. We prepare the drawings and material lists associations ask for and have handled HOA approvals for homeowners before.
Can you phase a project?
Most projects are phased. The design shows the whole plan with a cost range for each phase, and nothing in the first phase gets undone by the second.
