Eagan homes

What landscaping in Eagan usually involves.

Most of Eagan was built between the 1960s and the 1990s — the population more than doubled in three straight decades after the Highway 77 bridge and I-35E opened. The practical result is a city full of 30- to 50-year-old landscapes: foundation plantings that have outgrown the house, timber retaining walls at the end of their life, patios that have heaved, and irrigation systems installed before smart controllers existed.

That is the work we do most. A design that respects the mature trees that make Eagan neighborhoods feel settled, a wall rebuilt in boulder or segmental block so it is the last time you think about it, and a planting plan that replaces the overgrown yews with something that looks right at year five.

We are also the maintenance crew for a lot of Eagan already — the same trucks that handle commercial grounds along Yankee Doodle and Pilot Knob can take on a residential landscape maintenance or lawn program without a long drive.

Built for Eagan yards

Three things we plan for here.

1970s–90s landscapes, due for a second act

Overgrown foundation beds, rotting timber walls, and settled patios are the three most common reasons Eagan homeowners call. All three are design-and-rebuild projects we run every week.

Mature trees are the asset

Eagan's oak and maple canopy is why the neighborhoods look the way they do. We design around root zones, not through them, and our own tree crew handles the pruning that a project usually turns up.

Design consultations in Eagan are the easiest for us to schedule, and the easiest to come back to for the walkthrough, the warranty visit, and the maintenance program afterward.

“Of all the companies I called to give me an estimate, Maddi from ProScapes is the ONLY person who followed up with me. She is so conscientious, had great recommendations and took my drawings and turned them into a fabulous reality. Her team was on time, knew exactly what to do and were flexible with my suggestions while on site. They came back a year later to fix a couple of things that didn’t grow back. I recommended them to my neighbors and they too had a very positive experience.”

“We asked them to replace a deteriorating concrete block wall (which we never liked) with a wall of large natural boulders and, if they could, preserve some mature evergreens in the process, and they exceeded expectations. The outcome is beautiful and timeless.”

“ProScapes completed a large landscape/hardscape project for us, and it turned out beautifully. They were very responsive during the design phase and very patient as we worked through several adjustments. The crew was friendly and professional, and they maintained a clean job site. It was clear that the crew took pride in their work and wanted to ensure that we were happy with the end result.”

Our process

Six stages, and you approve before the money moves.

Consultation

A designer walks the property with you, listens to how you actually want to use the space, and flags anything structural — drainage, grade, access — before ideas get expensive.

Site analysis

Soil, sun, drainage, slope, utilities, and existing plant health. This is the stage that separates a design that works from a design that only looks good on paper.

Design

Plan drawings and material selection, with a cost range attached before anyone commits to a full construction set. You see what you’re buying.

Your review

You mark it up. We revise. Nothing gets ordered or scheduled until the plan and the number both have your signature on them.

Installation

Our crews, our equipment. Base photos before anything gets covered, site cleaned to working condition every evening, and a firm end date.

Walkthrough & warranty

We walk the finished work with you, show you how to care for it, and hand over the warranty. Then we’re available for the maintenance if you want it.

Questions

What Eagan homeowners ask.

Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Eagan?
Under the Minnesota building code, a retaining wall over four feet tall (measured from the bottom of the footing) needs a building permit and an engineered design, and the City of Eagan reviews those. Shorter walls generally do not need a permit, though walls near property lines, drainage easements, or wetlands have their own rules. We pull the permit as part of the project and handle the inspection.
Which parts of Eagan do you serve?
All of it — from the older neighborhoods near Cedar Grove and the Highway 13 corridor to the 1990s subdivisions south of Diffley and Cliff Road, and the lake lots around Thomas Lake, Fish Lake, and Blackhawk. Our yard is on Highway 55 on the east side of the city, so nothing in Eagan is more than about fifteen minutes away.
How soon can you come out?
In season, usually within a week for a consultation. Design work runs a few weeks; installation dates depend on the calendar, which fills from spring on. Winter is a good time to plan a project you want built early in the season.
Do you do maintenance for Eagan homes, or just projects?
Both. Landscape maintenance, lawn service, irrigation service, fine gardening, and tree care are all available as programs for Eagan properties, whether or not we built the landscape.
