Lakeville homes

What landscaping in Lakeville usually involves.

Lakeville added more people in the 1990s than any other decade and kept going — nearly 80,000 residents now, with housing that is often less than twenty years old. The landscape that comes with a new house is usually sod over compacted subsoil, a few shrubs by the front door, and a bare backyard. It is not a landscape so much as a placeholder.

That is our most common Lakeville project: the first real design for a home that never had one. Patios and outdoor living spaces, privacy plantings that grow on a lot with no mature trees, front entries that give a newer house some presence, and the drainage work that compacted clay demands before anything else will grow.

Lakeville is about 25 minutes from our Eagan yard down I-35. We also serve the older neighborhoods near downtown and the lots around Lake Marion and Orchard Lake, where the work looks more like renovation.

Built for Lakeville yards

Three things we plan for here.

Builder-grade yards, done properly

New construction sod over compacted clay is why so many Lakeville lawns and beds struggle. We fix the soil and the drainage first, then design the landscape the house should have had.

Privacy on a treeless lot

Newer subdivisions have no canopy yet. We plan plantings that give you screening in three to five years, spaced for their mature size rather than for how they look the day they go in.

Working with your HOA

Many Lakeville neighborhoods have association rules on fences, structures, and plantings. We have handled HOA approvals for homeowners before and can prepare the drawings the board asks for.

“Of all the companies I called to give me an estimate, Maddi from ProScapes is the ONLY person who followed up with me. She is so conscientious, had great recommendations and took my drawings and turned them into a fabulous reality. Her team was on time, knew exactly what to do and were flexible with my suggestions while on site. They came back a year later to fix a couple of things that didn’t grow back. I recommended them to my neighbors and they too had a very positive experience.”

“We asked them to replace a deteriorating concrete block wall (which we never liked) with a wall of large natural boulders and, if they could, preserve some mature evergreens in the process, and they exceeded expectations. The outcome is beautiful and timeless.”

“ProScapes completed a large landscape/hardscape project for us, and it turned out beautifully. They were very responsive during the design phase and very patient as we worked through several adjustments. The crew was friendly and professional, and they maintained a clean job site. It was clear that the crew took pride in their work and wanted to ensure that we were happy with the end result.”

Our process

Six stages, and you approve before the money moves.

Consultation

A designer walks the property with you, listens to how you actually want to use the space, and flags anything structural — drainage, grade, access — before ideas get expensive.

Site analysis

Soil, sun, drainage, slope, utilities, and existing plant health. This is the stage that separates a design that works from a design that only looks good on paper.

Design

Plan drawings and material selection, with a cost range attached before anyone commits to a full construction set. You see what you’re buying.

Your review

You mark it up. We revise. Nothing gets ordered or scheduled until the plan and the number both have your signature on them.

Installation

Our crews, our equipment. Base photos before anything gets covered, site cleaned to working condition every evening, and a firm end date.

Walkthrough & warranty

We walk the finished work with you, show you how to care for it, and hand over the warranty. Then we’re available for the maintenance if you want it.

Questions

What Lakeville homeowners ask.

My yard is brand new. Where do I start?
A design consultation, even if you will build in phases. The most expensive mistake on a new lot is installing a patio or plantings before the grading and drainage are right. We will tell you what has to happen first and what can wait.
Do I need a permit for a retaining wall in Lakeville?
Walls over four feet tall (from the bottom of the footing) need a building permit and an engineered design under the Minnesota building code; the City of Lakeville reviews those. Many Lakeville lots are flat enough that walls stay under that height, but we handle the permit when one is needed.
How far is Lakeville from your shop?
About 25 minutes from Eagan on I-35. It is the far edge of our core residential area, and we serve all of it — the newer neighborhoods on the south and east sides as well as the established areas near downtown and the lakes.
Can you get HOA approval for my project?
We prepare the drawings and material list most associations require, and homeowners have told us that help was the difference. One of our Google reviews is from a homeowner whose HOA permit we handled.
